In·de·pend·ence
With an attempt
to find the real meaning of it, as a usual e-Indian does on holidays, I typed
this illusionary word into that magical search box. As usual I got those
irrelevant results again which said it all. Independence is not restricted to search
engines. Happy Independence Day friends!! Aligning with dictionary meaning with slight
subjectivity where I believe “in” means inner or self and “dependence” means
relying upon, this makes more sense to me now. Where hoisting the flag is a
symbol of liberation, the point of independence is moving further away from us.
I feel that because of our assured ability to subside we are still chained with
norms and assumptions, norms that are created by innovation-phobic people of society
time to time and assumption which is known
to be more brain germinated. Truth is that norms are the function of our
assumptions. We don’t believe on our thoughts every time so we have
standardized our thinking process by creating a set of norms of “how to”. This “how
to” is like “touch me not” which is enough to kill your individuality and make
you far more mechanised upon touch or else it will make your life smooth as you
will be always in the mainstream process of eliminating assumptions and revising norms. So
I leave this thread open as a food for thought for all young Indians who are equally
capable of being the change agents of society and worrying about Independence day being a dry
day.
